Damian Apsinall has reportedly stepped down from the board of his own company which was originally founded by his father the late John Apsinall.
Aspers who operate casinos in Westfield Stratford City, Northampton, Milton Keynes and Newcastle are a joint partnership with Australian casino company Crown Resorts which was owned by James Packer the son of Kerry Packer and good friend of John Apsinall who ultimately joined forces to grown Aspers but now is owned by US investor company Blackstone.
Aspers had a terrible time during the COVD pandemic along with all other casino operators and the reason for Damian Aspinall’s departure from originally the company his father founded in the 1960’s and is synonymous with the disappearance with Lord Lucan who was accused of the murder of his family’s nanny is not known.
However as reported by the Sunday Times Aspers has failed to report the last yearly accounts which was due at the end of June this year.
The newspaper has said that Aspinall stepped down over two weeks ago and rumours among city analyst’s is that the company has financial issues. One of those the Times reported in the last year’s financial report was that Aspers were due to pay in full loans of nearly £50 million this year.
It is now unclear what role and involvement Blackstone has with Aspers in their tie-up with Crown Resorts and if the UK based casino operator is possibly considering a sale of the business.
