Wynn Resorts says it is making significant progress on its ambitious Wynn Al Marjan Island project, with construction advancing rapidly towards its anticipated opening in early 2027.
As of November with over 50% of the structural concrete work completed, shows the rapid pace of construction and the developer’s commitment to meeting its projected timeline. The main resort tower has already risen to the 29th floor and structural concrete completed up to the 26th floor.
Projected Opening
Despite the scale and complexity of the project, Wynn Resorts remains confident in its target opening date. The company has consistently communicated its intention to welcome guests in the first quarter of 2027.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island project represents a substantial investment in the UAE’s tourism and hospitality sector. Initially projected to cost around $3.9 billion, recent estimates have seen this figure rise to approximately $5.10 billion.
Industry experts and Wynn Resorts itself have expressed optimistic projections for the UAE’s gaming market. Estimates suggest that the overall market could be worth between $3 billion and $5 billion. Wynn anticipates that its Ras Al Khaimah property alone could generate gross gaming revenue in the range of $1 billion to $1.67 billion.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort says the company is set to become an architectural marvel, blending Wynn’s signature luxury with elements inspired by local culture and the natural beauty of its coastal setting. The design process involves a collaborative effort between Wynn Design and Development (WDD) and a team of over 90 architects, designers, and creative visionaries.
At the heart of the development is the resort tower, which will house 1,542 rooms and suites. The structure’s design incorporates cutting-edge engineering techniques to create a striking silhouette against the Ras Al Khaimah skyline. As of the latest update, the tower structure for 1,121 guest rooms (73% of the total) has been completed.
The interior spaces are being crafted to offer an unparalleled luxury experience. Work is currently underway on fitting out approximately 820 rooms, including the installation of walls, floors, ceilings, and all necessary mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services.
The development will feature 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, along with a 15,000 square meter shopping promenade will offer guests a luxurious retail experience. This expansive space is expected to house a curated selection of high-end brands and local boutiques.
An events centre and theatre are included in the development plans, positioning Wynn Al Marjan Island as a premier destination for conferences, performances, and special events.
One of the most anticipated aspects of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort is its gaming floor. Spanning 225 square feet.
In October 2023, Wynn Resorts secured a casino license from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), marking a significant milestone in the project’s development. This license, the first of its kind in the Emirate, paves the way for the introduction of regulated gaming activities in the UAE.
The development of Wynn Al Marjan Island presents unique challenges due to its scale, location, and the ambitious timeline set by the developers.
The construction team has achieved progress, completing one floor per week on average. This rapid pace is essential to meet the projected topping-off target of December 2025. In just 100 days, the resort tower grew by 44 meters.
Currently, about 9,100 construction team members are working on-site, supported by over 100 concrete trucks operating daily.
