Sports wagering handle in New York State reached nearly $2.1 billion in September. Online sports betting operators reaped $204.7 million in revenue before taxes. The hold was 9.9 percent.

The September results included four days of operation by ESPN Bet, taking the place of defunct WynnBet, which ceased accepting bets at the end of July.

DraftKings narrowly led in handle, with $788 million to FanDuel’s $784 million. However, FanDuel outdistanced DraftKings in revenue with $95 million to the latter’s $69.7 million. FanDuel held at 12.5 percent to DraftKings’s 8.8 percent.

Despite a 15 percent decline in handle, Caesars Sportsbook managed four percent more win than in September 2023, garnering $13 million on $147 million of handle. BetMGM’s handle soared 43 percent to $144 million, while its win rose 25 percent to $10.3 million, in spite of a low 7.1 percent hold.
