Tuesday’s Copa América semifinal didn’t go the way Drake hoped, and the Argentina national team took advantage of the Canadian rapper’s pain.
Drake, who posts about sports betting regularly, placed a $300,000 wager on Canada to beat Argentina in the Copa América semifinals, according to his Instagram account. Drake posted the caption, “This could get Messi.”
His caption held some truth, as Lionel Messi added his first goal of the tournament as the Argentinians cruised to a 2-0 victory. Following the 2-0 Argentina win, the Argentina national team’s official social media accounts poked fun at the famous rapper by posting a graphic saying, “Not Like Us.”
The graphic alludes to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a rap song directed at Drake. The popular diss track has more than 100 million views on YouTube since being released on May 4, with the public generally suggesting Lamar won the rap battle between the two.
Had Drake’s wager won, the payout would’ve been $2.88 million. Instead, the bet lost, and Argentina’s national team account took the opportunity to mock the Canadian fan after he lost $300,000.
