Entering the weekend, FanDuel gave Wake Forest -275 odds to make the NCAA Tournament. After Wake Forest’s 83-79 win over Duke on Saturday that featured elite offense and a controversial court storming, FanDuel no longer offers the betting market.

While “bracketologists” — Wake Forest’s feud with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi seems unending — continue to put the Demon Deacons firmly on the tournament bubble, sports betting odds paint a different picture. Not only did Wake Forest add a Quad 1 victory to its resume by beating Duke, but basketball analytics website KenPom.com also projects the Demon Deacons to be favored in all four of their remaining regular season games. That includes a road game with Virginia Tech (KenPom has Wake Forest as a 1-point favorite) and a home game with Clemson (KenPom lists Wake Forest as a 4-point favorite).

Both of those victories would be considered Quad 1 wins. If Wake Forest wins both or either of those games, it’ll enhance the team’s resume and negate the need for a special end-of-season push to secure an NCAA Tournament berth.

Wake Forest can’t afford to lose out, but assuming the Demon Deacons avoid a late-season collapse, they’ll likely secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament field. If they do that, they could be dangerous in the Big Dance.

The Demon Deacons sit at No. 19 in KenPom’s predictive metrics, ranking in the top 35 nationally in both offensive and defensive efficiency. They’re one of just 12 teams to appear in the top 35 for both offensive and defensive efficiency.

BetMGM gives Wake Forest +4000 odds to make the Final Four, while DraftKings gives it +3000 odds. An ACC team with a 5-seed or worse has made the Final Four in each of the last two seasons.

The Demon Deacons are +12000 to win the national title at DraftKings. They’re a longshot to win it all, but they have the advanced metrics to suggest they’ll be a tough out next month.

By the time the NCAA Tournament begins, online sports betting in North Carolina will be live. Bettors in the state will have several days to place NCAA Tournament futures on Wake Forest. A launch of eight North Carolina betting apps is scheduled for March 11 at noon, one day before the ACC Tournament tips off and about a week before the NCAA Tournament begins.
