Macau Golden Week Estimate 90k Visitors Per Day
Share This TagsThe gambling hub of Macau is expecting between 80,000 and 90,000 visitors a day during the upcoming October Golden Week. The director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes made the prediction during her weekly media announcement to the local press.
The September 29 to October 6 holiday period which takes in both the lunar-calendar based Mid-Autumn Festival and the October 1st China’s National Day, which is named “Golden Week” is the next peak visitor numbers after the heights of August which has always been the highest visitor levels in Macau.
In the news conference she said, “The next peak in visitor arrivals to Macau should be during China’s Golden Week of Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day.”
She went on to say that Macau had seen a daily average of “more than 100,000″ visitor arrivals in the summer month of August, and average hotel occupancy of 90%.
Currently for September visitor numbers per day are around 65,000 per day as the summer holidays finish in China and for many overseas visitors.
The Director said that although there will be a peak in visitor numbers for Golden week it does not expect those numbers to beat August levels which saw 100,000 per day.
She added, “The month of August has always been even in pre-pandemic times the best month of the year. We hope there will be a daily average of 80,000 to 90,000 visitor arrivals during the upcoming Golden Week.”
