In Kern County, California, Hard Rock International and the Tejon Indian Tribe commemorated a significant occasion by breaking ground on a new hotel and casino complex. For the Tribe, which had been landless for more than 150 years prior to being renewed as an Indian tribe with federal recognition, the ritual was a momentous occasion.
In attendance were officials from the local community, the general membership, the leadership of the Tejon Indian Tribe, and representatives from Hard Rock for a symbolic shovel groundbreaking. Octavio Escobedo, III Chair of the Tejon Indian Tribe, expressed the historical significance of the occasion, emphasizing the Tribe’s enduring quest for a homeland and the realization of self-determination through economic development.
Economic Impact and Job Creation
During the development phase, which will be overseen by the Penta Building Group, the project is expected to create about 2,000 employment specifically related to construction. When finished, it should provide about 5,000 full- and part-time direct and indirect employment. Phase one, which includes the restaurants, gambling, and entertainment venues, and other amenities, is expected to be finished 22 months after the groundbreaking. It would likely take an extra 20 months to complete phase two, which will include a 400-room hotel, more facilities, and a space for live events.
Approximately 700,000 square feet, or 150,000 square feet, will be devoted to gaming in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon. It will be the second closest class III casino to Los Angeles, with 2,500 slots, 48 table games, and video poker. In addition, there will be a rock shop, fine dining establishment Council Oak Steaks and Seafood, a flagship Hard Rock Cafe, and other dining options in phase one.
A 400-room hotel, exquisite restaurants, a pool, a spa, a cigar club, and a 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live event space are among the new amenities that will be available in phase two. Throughout the site, there will be Hard Rock memorabilia.
