Australian Slot machine manufacturer Aristocrat, has announced their results for the fiscal year 2023 with impressive growth in net profit and overall revenue.
The net profit (NPATA) rose by a remarkable 20.7 percent, reaching AU$1.32 billion ($858 million). The overall revenue also saw an impressive increase of 13 percent, amounting to AU$6.29 billion ($4.08 billion) during the period. The results were driven by strong performance in various sectors of the company, including the gaming segment, which experienced substantial revenue growth.
The gaming segment of Aristocrat, known as Aristocrat Gaming, witnessed a remarkable rise in revenue during the fiscal year 2023. The revenue from Aristocrat Gaming increased by 22.17 percent, reaching AU$3.64 billion ($2.37 billion). The surge in revenue contributed to a segment profit of AU$1.89 billion ($1.23 billion), representing a 22.65 percent yearly growth. The EBITDA for the gaming segment also rose by 20.85 percent, reaching AU$2.1 billion ($1.37 billion).
The outright sales revenue for the gaming segment also witnessed a significant boost, with a remarkable 40 percent increase. The Americas outright sales units experienced a notable rise of 25.5 percent, while the North American gaming operations reached a total of 64,030 units, up from 59,199 in the previous fiscal year. The post-tax profit from the Americas segment amounted to $143.3 million. However, the ANZ revenue remained flat at AU$458.4 million ($298 million), with the outright sales units falling to 11,195 from 12,366 in the previous fiscal year.
Mobile Games Arm: Pixel United
While the overall performance of Aristocrat was impressive, its mobile games arm, Pixel United, faced some challenges during the fiscal year 2023. The revenue of Pixel United experienced a decline of 3.9 percent, amounting to $1.76 billion. This decline was primarily attributed to the downturn in the mobile market and the group’s exit from the Russian market in March 2022. Similarly, the EBITDA of Pixel United witnessed a decline of 6.6 percent, reaching $592.2 million, and the segment profit fell by 2.5 percent, amounting to $536.4 million.
However, despite these challenges, Pixel United managed to maintain a strong position in the social casino sector. The company’s results were broadly in line with the global mobile games market, and it continued to grow its market share in this niche. Moreover, Pixel United has recently acquired Roxor as a core product technology, which is expected to improve its future results.
Trevor Croker, the CEO and Managing Director of Aristocrat, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s performance during the fiscal year 2023. He highlighted the high-quality results achieved by Aristocrat and emphasized the resilience, competitiveness, and diversification of the company’s portfolio. Croker also mentioned the acceleration of investment in the successful growth strategy of the company.
