Las Vegas Strip Casino The Mirage Gives Away $1.6 Million in Prizes Before Closing This Month
|After 34 years of operation on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, The Mirage Hotel & Casino announced on May 15 that it would close for good on July 17, 2024. With just six days left before the high-end entertainment venue bids farewell to its patrons, it must give away $1.6 million in prizes.
With approximately $1.2 million in unclaimed progressive slot prizes and another $400,000 in unclaimed progressive table game prizes, The Mirage Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway promo has attracted many hopeful winners during the last several days. The progressive slot machine promo is running between July 09 and 13, and on July 16 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, the progressive table game promo is scheduled for July 12 and 13 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Participants must be aged 21 or older, with winners selected each hour.
According to regulations of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, gambling operators are obligated to pay out progressive jackpots before ceasing operations. As the prize money was accumulated essentially from gamblers’ losses and Hard Rock International, the property’s owner and operator, has no other affiliated casinos in the state, it must pay out the funds.
A New Era as Hard Rock Las Vegas Will Commence
As announced in a Facebook publication by The Mirage Hotel & Casino, “an incredible transformation” lies ahead. The farewell message of the operator read: “We look forward to the beginning of an exciting journey into a new era as Hard Rock Las Vegas will ignite the Strip with entertainment, innovation, and world-class hospitality.”
On its webpage, the company has provided answers to some frequently asked questions concerning the property’s hotel, gaming, entertainment, and spa amenities. Hotel reservations must be canceled beyond July 14. Concerning the Free Play on customers’ accounts, the operator confirmed that it must be used by July 16.
Launched in 1989, The Mirage is the Strip’s first large-scale entertainment property. It is widely renowned for helping to transform Las Vegas into a global luxury destination. The opening of the highly anticipated Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas is scheduled for the spring of 2027.
As far as new job opportunities are concerned, Hard Rock Las Vegas is expected to employ nearly 7,000 team members. Joe Lupo, President of The Mirage said: “We are planning to host collaborative hiring events with other employers in the Las Vegas community over the coming months.” He also thanked all team members of The Mirage for their dedication and professionalism.
Earlier this year, The Tropicana Las Vegas, the Strip’s third-oldest casino, also ceased operating, with demolition scheduled for October. An MLB stadium will be constructed on its spot.
