Maryland September Sports Betting On The Rise
Share This TagsOnline sports betting in Maryland saw its handle soar by 68% for September compared to the previous month to $442.4 million with the latest figures released by the states by Maryland Lottery and Gaming regulator.
Expectations are high now that the traditional summer quite period is over and the start of the NFL and college football season is now underway.
The state’s 12 online operator along with 13 retail sports book venues recorded gross revenues rising by a massive 83% to $45.6 million compared to August figures and bets placed stood at $133 million.
Mobile betting saw most action from residents with 95.1% of all bets placed using an app with only $2.6 million of the total handle was used outside of mobile use.
The state collected $3.2 million in taxes from the 15% tax rate imposed on all operators.
In the battle for supremacy in sports betting operators FanDuel came out on top with $19.9 million in revenues in the state and DraftKings coming in second with $15.5 million.
