SuperBook Sports’ Betting-Themed Lounge Stays At Camden Yards … For Now

Despite SuperBook Sports’ intention to leave Maryland’s online sports betting marketplace, the SuperBook Bar and Restaurant at Camden Yards will remain for the duration of the Baltimore Orioles’ season, Sports Handle confirmed. The Baltimore Sun was first to report the news.

It’s unclear exactly when a rebranding of the restaurant might take place, but it’s unlikely SuperBook branding on the restaurant or scoreboard remains beyond this MLB season given the company’s Maryland exit.

SuperBook Sports announced plans two weeks ago to leave Maryland — and seven other states including Tennessee and Ohio — and focus on its Nevada operations. It stopped taking wagers in Maryland earlier this month. The sports betting app struggled to gain market share in the states in which it operated. For example, it accounted for less than 0.1% of 2024 sports betting revenue generated in New Jersey.

The operator hoped it could successfully expand beyond Nevada, where it has a prominent retail presence in Las Vegas. Instead, operators like DraftKings and FanDuel have dominated online sports betting across the U.S. and made it challenging for other platforms to gain significant market share.

SuperBook Sports’ partnership with the Baltimore Orioles, which it announced in 2022, failed to help the sportsbook become a staple among Maryland bettors. The operator accepted fewer than $500,000 worth of bets in the state in June, compared to FanDuel, which led the state in June with a handle of more than $160 million.

While the lounge itself made for an enjoyable pregame visit, SuperBook Sports’ app didn’t move the needle for the company. The partnership struggled to entice bettors in part because the lounge didn’t include retail kiosks, meaning all bets placed in the facility were mobile sports wagers.

Those bets didn’t have to be placed on SuperBook, as the lounge didn’t include mobile exclusivity for the operator. It’s likely bettors in the facility wagered using more popular platforms like DraftKings or FanDuel rather than downloading the SuperBook Sports app.

The lack of exclusivity for SuperBook within its own lounge still remains. Customers interested in placing a bet at the betting-themed restaurant in the coming weeks will need to rely on other platforms.

Customers won’t have a shortage of options, as Maryland is home to some of the biggest names in sports betting, including BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN BET, Fanatics Sportsbook, and FanDuel.
