Cherokee Nation asks court to dismiss lawsuit over Arkansas casino license

Cherokee Nation Businesses and Entertainment asked the U.S. District Court on Friday to dismiss a lawsuit filed by its main competitor for a Pope County casino license. According to court filings, the Cherokee Nation group denied “any coercion” in the issuing of Pope County’s casino license.

The lawsuit in question, filed by Gulfside Casino Partnership on July 2nd, claimed that the contract awarded to Cherokee Nation Entertainment on June 27th should be declared “invalid.” It went on to allude the contractual agreement and the “letters and resolutions of support” from Pope County officials should be voided. In its motion to dismiss, Cherokee Nation Entertainment cited seven reasons it believes Judge Lee Rudofsky should discard the case.
