Bally’s temporary casino in downtown Chicago had an 11.4% month-over-month decline in revenue according to figures released Monday by the Illinois Gaming Board.
The $10.3 million in operator winnings was a dip of $1.3 million compared to the record $11.7 million generated in May. Bally’s venue at Medinah Temple has generated $62.8 million in revenue for the first six months of 2024, which has resulted in $6.8 million in taxes for Chicago after another $1.3 million went into the coffers from June wagering. Mayor Brandon Johnson projected $35 million in receipts from Bally’s for his 2024 budget, but even with the progressive tax rates on revenue, the venue will be hard-pressed to reach that figure by year’s end.
