Massachusetts: May gaming revenue reaches $97.9 million, slight increase from April

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission this week reported gaming revenue of $97.9 million in May, a slight increase from the $97.5 million generated in April.

Encore Boston Harbor led Massachusetts casinos with $61.2 million in gaming revenue, with slots generating $35.8 million and table games $25.4 million. The total was a slight increase over the $60.9 million the operator generated in April.

MGM Springfield posted May revenue of $22.4 million, a slight decrease from its April revenue, which reached $22.7 million. The casino generated $18.6 million from slots and $3.8 million from table games.

Plainridge Park, which features slots only, reported revenue of $14.3 million in May compared to $13.8 million in April.

Taxes collected from the casinos totaled $27.9 million.

Sports wagering revenue generated through eight mobile/online licensees and three in-person licensees was $59 million.

Retail sports wagering generated $673,000 from a handle of $10.2 million. Online sports wagering revenue was $58.3 million from a handle of $577.1 million. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering was $11.5 million.
